友人夫婦が新婚旅行にやってきた。プロの料理人である妻セレクションにより、バンコクの老舗レストランであるBlue Elephantの料理教室に参加するというので私も付いて行った。人生発のソムタム等、内容は盛りだくさん。友人は料理を教えてくれる料理人が二人とも貴金属だらけの指のままだったので、それに異常にウケていた。
衛生面よりも儲かってる感じを重視した結果なのか、さすが見た目主義のタイランド。清潔感は見た目の価値に入らないのかも。ま、なにしろマイペンライ。
Sep.2008 Cooking at Blue Elephant
A couple of my friends come to Bkk for their honeymoon. According to the wife’s selection, she is a proffesional cook in Tokyo, I also followed them to the cooking school at Blue Elephant, one of the famous long standing restaurant in Bkk.
The menu was full of variety, and it was my first time to cook Somtam(Papaya Salad). And she, the wife, was so curious about the cooks, there were 2 of them, both were wearing plenty of accessories on their fingers.
Although they are supposed to look after sanitary conditions, they might regard the successful appearance as more inportant. Anyway, this is in Thiland, they always pay attention to the nice looking and moreover, say, “Mai pen rai”
