英ゆう個展「外を入れる」

2007-2009年のバンコクでのレジデンス期間中に花環などを描いた油彩画大作5点と、ハトをモチーフにしたレリーフエッチングと水彩モノタイプを組み合わせた版画作品７点を78畳の大広間にインスタレーション。バンコクではモチーフの大小や遠近感をわざと逆転させて、身近なイメージを錯覚的に構成し直したテーマで発表しましたが、今回は大広間の内的な空間にそれらの外を描いた作品を配置して、場をからめたイリュージョンに挑戦しました。京都芸術センター内の「大広間」にバンコクでのレジデンスをした現地の「王宮前広場」を見立てて足下に配置した鳩は座布団に座って覗き込み、そのとき見上げる周りのモニュメント、庭園、道ばたの供花も全て現地の再現のつもりで配置しました。

Yu had worked on the illusional images which she had found from her daily life in Bangkok with her concept to collect the sights of “FLOATING ILLUSION” during the period of residency. Now she brought back most of the works from there and tries to create the next illusion that is to show the out side images in such a inner feel space at Kyoto Art Center where covered with 78 mats of tatami. Yu states this show as her starting point to create the more definite image with her aesthetic sence which has been grown under the monsoon Asia as to connect the feeling of Bagkok and Kyoto.
